MUNICIPALITY OF BUONCONVENTO: LAND USE PLANNING (VARIANTE AL PIANO STRUTTURALE)
Problem and Purpose
Between February 2009 and March of the same year, the Municipality of Buonconvento (Tuscany, Italy) carried out the participatory process firstname.lastname@example.org aimed at updating its Structural Plan; it decided to do so by involving its population in order to solve some critical situations, dealing with 'urban accessibility'.
The ECOCITY project is a group of ten projects that are funded by the European Commission. This particular case study looks at the process behind the renewal of social housing on the northeastern outskirts of Barcelona. The objective of the ECOCITY project is to create patterns for the sustainable development of urban areas.
The 2008 National Citizens’ Technology Forum was a series of online and face-to-face meetings across the United States with the goal of obtaining citizen recommendations on how to deal with the new technologies such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technologies, and cognitive science (henceforth known as NBIC technologies). Organizers hoped that these recommendations would influence future government policy.
In this paper it will be presented and analyzed the process of citizen participation that took place for the revision and study of the Plan Regulador Comunal of the commune of Estación Central in Santiago, Chili. It's a case with a high level of importance in the country because it combines this emergent practice, citizen participation, with one of the most relevant instruments for urban planning in the city, the Plan Regulador Comunal.
