  • In the context of the perpetual crisis of urban transportation in Bucharest, there is a growing population of city dwellers fighting for bicycle rights and advocating for a new, bicycle friendly infrastructure in Bucharest.  The bicycle fans coagulated since the mid 2000’s into different groups and NGO’s and developed into a new movement and a powerful presence in the urban landscape, adopting several strategies of public participation.

    Obesity is still a prevailing problem in the United States. It is also the second leading cause of preventable death. Statistics show that about 33.8% of American adults are obese. The percentage of children who are considered overweight is also an alarming approximate 17%. The issue has provoked large reactions from various foundations, government and private organizations to support organized interventions.

    Problems and Purpose

    In 2004, the large pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson relocated its large manufacturing and research plant located in North Brunswick, New Jersey. After the company left, the township wanted to obtain the desires of the public to answer a simple question: What should be done with the Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) property? With the assistance of developers, architects, and other experts, multiple community workshops were implemented, with the intention of taking into account the public’s desire.

    Summary

    Dialogue with the City’s aim was to make Perth the “world’s most livable city by 2030.” It was a process of engaging Perth and the grater area’s citizens in developing a planning strategy for the capital of Australia’s growing city. The Government of Australia wanted a jointly develop a plan for the future of Perth with those people who will sustain the growth of the city in the future.
