    In 2012, the City of Canada Bay Council proposed an innovative method of deliberative democracy  to obtain the advice of citizens in making decisions for the range and quality of council services for the period 2014-18. With this in mind, the Canada Bay Council partnered with  groups such as Straight Talk and newDemocracy to create a panel of 36 randomly citizens. This group worked in parallel to a randomly selected group of council staff.

    Problems and Purpose

    IntegrAzione was established to provide citizens with information concerning developments in a Roma settlement in Italy, especially in the district of Florence. Additionally, current legislation and policies influencing the situation of the Roma population were covered. The original purpose was to decide with inhabitants on local policies concerning the Roma settlement in order to foster integration of the communities.

    The conflict began in 1996 when neighbors in Bellavista began to find out through a series of rumors that a highway project would cross through their neighborhood. This boiled down to an urban megaproject at a distance of more than 33km. This became a conflict due to the projected effects it would have on a longstanding and traditional neighborhood found to the north of downtown Santiago. This area is characterized as being home to artists and bohemians and features a discernible presence of restaurants and nightclubs.

    The San Mateo Deliberative Poll was a countrywide deliberative event held in San Mateo, California, March 2008. The event was sponsored by Threshold 2008, a coalition of civic groups dedicated to housing problem in the country, and funded by a number of philanthropy foundations such as Open Square Foundation with additional support from the country and local partners. The event adopted Deliberative Polling in which scientific sample of randomly selected people participated two days of deliberative meetings.
