The Citizens’ Forum is a new form of participation developed by the Bertelsmann Foundation, the Ludwig-Erhard Foundation and the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation. It is a 6-8 week online deliberation embedded in two live events, one at the beginning of the process and the other one at the end. This article describes the second edition of the Citizens’ Forum Europe.
The purposes of the CommonGround public deliberations in the U.S. state of New Mexico were to demonstrate a new mode of policy communication between New Mexico's citizens and civic leaders, and to create policy guidelines that could inform changes to early childhood development and education policy in New Mexico, changes intended to foster improved social outcomes for New Mexico's children.
The Countywide Community Forum’s mission states its three main reasons for creating themselves: engage, educate, and inform public officials. For the engagement mission, King County officials want to know the main issues that citizens of the King County are most concerned about. The forums are placed anywhere within the King County area, generally within a public space where forums are designed to be convenient gather spots. However there can be forums in living rooms or workplaces since individuals who are leading the forums can be anyone.
