The purposes of the CommonGround public deliberations in the U.S. state of New Mexico were to demonstrate a new mode of policy communication between New Mexico's citizens and civic leaders, and to create policy guidelines that could inform changes to early childhood development and education policy in New Mexico, changes intended to foster improved social outcomes for New Mexico's children.
The Mayor's Youth Summit was a large deliberative event composed of Seattle-area youth held on April 8th, 2010, at the Seattle City Hall and sponsored by the Seattle Mayor's Office and Office of Education. It was the culminating event of the first phase of Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn's 2010 Youth and Families Initiative. This Initiative consists of four decision-making phases that will help set the City of Seattle's priorities for the money that will be potentially be received from the Families and Education Levy, which will be on the ballot in 2011.
The problem is that citizens feel that there are not enough outdoor recreation resources and opportunities, more specifically for those individuals that have limited access and use of the outdoor recreation resources for reasons including age, income, or knowledge.
