This case study features the ten 2007/2008 Citizen Conferences, each consisting of 8 to 10 New Mexican Adult Citizens and lasting 9 hours. This series of deliberative events was convened by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the University of New Mexico's Institute for Public Policy (IPP) to gather public feedback, so that the State could best meet the transportation needs of its citizens.
MUNICIPALITY OF BUONCONVENTO: LAND USE PLANNING (VARIANTE AL PIANO STRUTTURALE)
Problem and Purpose
Between February 2009 and March of the same year, the Municipality of Buonconvento (Tuscany, Italy) carried out the participatory process email@example.com aimed at updating its Structural Plan; it decided to do so by involving its population in order to solve some critical situations, dealing with 'urban accessibility'.
The Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform was a body created by the government of British Columbia, Canada. The Assembly was charged with investigating and recommending changes to improve the electoral system of the province. The body was composed of 160 citizens selected ar random from throughout the province. These members met approximately every other weekend for one year to deliberate about alternative voting arrangements.
