1. Depth of Analysis Description (45 pts)

  • As best able, accurate entries in the “Case Data” fields (15 pts)
     
  • Thorough description of case/method/org (30 pts)

2. Effective use of sources (30 pts)

  • Clearly listed and/or footnoted secondary sources (5 pts)
     
  • Effective use of available academic/scholarly sources (15 pts)
     
  • Effective use of any valuable online sources, as available (10 pts)

3. Style/Formatting (25 pts)

  • Correct use of headings (5 pts)
     
  • Grammar, syntax, organization, style, format, etc. (20 pts)

In the Spring 2010 semester, John Gastil taught a course at the University of Washington in which students were asked to write an article for Participedia as one of their paper assignments. This assignment counted for 20% of the course grade. He used the rubric above to grade this assignment.
