Definition

A workers’ council is a method of governance by workers of themselves through selected delegates sent to represent them either through direct positions of leadership or through communication with those in positions of power or management. The management of a workplace or an enterprise comes together with the selected delegates to negotiate and bargain on issues selected by the workers to be the agenda of the discussions.

In the context of the perpetual crisis of urban transportation in Bucharest, there is a growing population of city dwellers fighting for bicycle rights and advocating for a new, bicycle friendly infrastructure in Bucharest.  The bicycle fans coagulated since the mid 2000’s into different groups and NGO’s and developed into a new movement and a powerful presence in the urban landscape, adopting several strategies of public participation.

Poblema y Propósito

La principal característica de la metodología desarrollada es evaluar concretamente la participación en el marco del fondo solidario de vivienda, que es un programa del Ministerio de Vivienda y Urbanismo que apoya con un subsidio a las familias más necesitadas para que puedan ser propietarias de una vivienda. Permite construir o comprar una vivienda con un valor de tasación máximo de 650 Unidades de Fomento.

Villa El Salvador is a district within the city of Lima, Peru. In 1999 it began using participatory budgeting (PB) as a means to create an urban development plan, with the first PB talks commencing in 2000.

Law-making 2.0 by Wikivote (Russia)

In 2010, the Russian Ministry of Education asked Wikivote to develop a crowdsource platform for evaluating and editing the draft of the new Law on Education. The goals were to include Russian experts, teachers, and parents in a detailed analysis of the Law's concepts and items and solicit ideas for improving the Law.
