"Community Policing in Chicago","Vbaj86","The Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) was launched in the beginning of April 1993 and was tested in five Chicago neighborhoods, after a brief developmental period. By May 1995 it had expanded to involve the entire Chicago Police's Patrol Division. This in turn led to the setup of beat meetings, which provide opportunities for residents and police who work for/live in these high-crime neighborhoods. These beat meetings have grown into major community meetings that help police identify and solve problems.
