The "Piano Integrato di Salute" is the document of the Società della Salute that plans healthy and social policies. Società della Salute are public consortium between municipality and Asl (Aziende Sanitarie Locali), the organisations that manage health care. They have to guarantee good performances with a budget that is reduced every year: to do this, efficency and citizens involvement seem to be the most important answers.
In the late 2000s Northumberland Hills Hospital experienced repeated budget deficits. The hospital's board needed to cut the hospital's services in order to balance the budget. Ontario's Local Health System Integration Act, 2006, required the hospital to seek public input before changing services. Accordingly, the hospital's board developed a plan, called a collaborative budget strategy -- formally entitled "Shared Challenge, Shared Solution" -- to elicit this public input.
The Alternative University Project (AltU) grew out of the frustration felt by a group of McGill and Concordia University students about the growing inaccessibility of the Quebec higher education system. The AltU is a collection of classes taught by professors, students, community members, or through innovative communal formats on subjects which range from “Knitting” and “Programming” to “Introduction to Anarchism” and “New Materials Writing Workshop and Discussion.”
Burning Man is an annual artistic festival which is held in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert and whose central premise involves extensive community participation. Far from being a standard art festival, Burning Man embraces the idea of radical inclusion and aims to instill a set of core values in its many participants. In order to achieve this objective, the week-long event features a variety of fascinating participatory frameworks, from consensus decision-making and a culture of volunteerism to interactive artwork and even the collaborative construction of a city!
The Community Planning Toolkit www.communityplanningtoolkit.org was developed by Community Places through the support of the BIG Lottery Fund to help the Community and Voluntray Sector in Northern Ireland to prepare for the planned introduction of Council led Community Planning in 2015.
History
In February 2010 the Big Lottery Fund issued an invitation to tender for three Community Planning Pilot Projects and a Learning, Support and Toolkit contract. Its decision to do so was:
