Biography: 

Graham Smith is Professor of Politics and Academic Director at the Centre for the Study of Democracy, University of Westminster (UK). He is author of a number of books, articles and reports on democratic theory and practice, including Democratic Innovations: Designing Institutions for Citizen Participation (Cambridge University Press, 2009) and Beyond the Ballot (Power Inquiry 2005). He also has a long standing research interest in climate politics and has plans to develop Participedia's coverage of participatory governance in this area.

Graham has been involved with Participedia since its inception and is currently Chair of the Research Committee. He is involved in a number of other research projects including Cherrypicking: The Results of Participatory Processes and Democracy Matters: UK Citizens' Assembly Pilot Project.

Graham is also Chair of the Foundation for Democracy and Sustainable Development.
