Problems and Purpose

Social media algorithms are created in such a way that they will only show you content that the system predicts you will like. This has created cohorts of people who hear back the same ideas that they believe, and they do not hear any opposing sides. It creates a space where you feel justified and supported but you never experience other opinions. This space is called an echo chamber.

When you post on social media you post short, incomplete, edited parts of your life. The volume of life behind a tweet or an Instagram post is the iceberg under the water. This is the cause of two problems. One is the fact that people will communicate without the empathy that is inherent in face-to-face communication. This leads to divided people and explosives exchanges. Two, individuals have a false sense of reality. The people who they see on social media are likely exemplifying their best selves. This leads to an unhealthy self-image across society.

GetVokl is merging the value of online communication with the power of bringing communication back to the basics, namely engaging in face to face communication seamlessly. On GetVokl, users can have tough conversations in a dynamic that allows users to engage in a safe and effective space.

History

GetVokl has evolved to be a platform where anyone can bring a meeting, a town hall or a collaborative together in one open source format. GetVokl was originally focused structured conversation and break out rooms. Starting with a simple but powerful idea: to create a healthy social media platform. Now GetVokl is pioneering social television by bringing people together from across the world and across divides into space where thought leaders create and cultivate communities and where existing communities engage in a new efficient and powerful channel.

Brand new- GetVokl is less than a year old but is growing fast and developing new features by the week.

Methods and Tools Used

We use structured conversation to create a way for people to communicate effectively and efficiently at mass. By emulating the dynamics of stage-to-audience conversation and implementing a rotating panel and crowd noise we have created a neatly organized way for large numbers of people to communicate online.

Influence, Outcomes, and Effects

GetVokl is growing by the day. We are expected to double our users within the next couple of months. We have started to work with influencer networks, media companies and broadcasting communities.
