Biography: 

Laurence Bherer is Associate professor of Political Sciences at University of Montréal. Her research and publications focuse on participatory democracy and urban politics. She interested in issues related to local democracy, urban politics and public participation. Her research has focused on the effects and the dissemination of public participation practices, municipal elections, metropolitan governance and the mobilization of actors around public transit issues. In 2010, I was awarded the Urban Affairs Association prize for the best paper: “Successful and Unsuccessful Participatory Arrangements: Why is there a Participatory Movement at the Local Level?” (Journal of Urban Affairs).
