The citizen panel for more climate protection in Krakow met between 4 September and 20 November 2021. 60 randomly drawn residents dealt with what needs to be done in Krakow to reduce energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy

Problems and Purpose

The aim of Kraków Citizens’ Assembly on Climate is to answer the question, how can the City and its residents reduce energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy?

Background History and Context

This process was born out of the idea that it is crucial to have a long-term vision for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in order to be convinced that our actions are aimed at making a greater impact on the climate situation.

Participant Recruitment and Selection

20,000 citizens were sent a letter of invitation, there was an invitation to participate in the panel. Interested people can register, and 60 panellists was selected from among all candidates.

Methods and Tools Used

What Went On: Process, Interaction, and Participation

As part of this assembly, all interested residents could listen to presentations about climate transformation, citizen engagement, buildings, and the energy sector. Speeches were delivered by specialists,

Influence, Outcomes, and Effects

After the end of Krakowski Panel Klimatyczny, the city will receive a report that will help it in its climate transformation.
