On September 14, 2022, the specialist conference of who thinks was GmbH will be about citizen participation in the context of municipal mobility and climate protection measures. Content: Best practice, requirements and challenges in citizen participation, funding opportunities for municipalities, network.

On September 14, 2022, wer Denk was GmbH invites you to a specialist conference in the Georg Christoph Lichtenberg-Haus in Darmstadt. The sixth conference of the Darmstadt participation experts is entitled "Mobility as a pioneer - municipal climate protection and citizen participation". Experience has shown that both municipal mobility concepts and climate protection measures polarize strongly. Public participation procedures therefore face major challenges, but at the same time they are indispensable for transparency and acceptance. In addition, the involvement of local people with their ideas and potential is important in order to be able to cope with the social, economic and political changes that climate change makes necessary. This is exactly what should be the focus of the wer|denkt|was conference.

Best practice - approaches - funding opportunities for municipalities

Within the framework of specialist lectures, positive examples of citizen participation on the subject of mobility and climate protection will be presented at the specialist conference. Theresa Lotichius, Managing Director of who thinks was GmbH, shows both the range of participation options and the requirements for public participation. dr Kristin Nicolaus from Project Management Jülich will also speak about funding opportunities for municipalities in this area and the challenges for citizen participation.

Discussion rounds with best practice partners

An intensive exchange on previous experiences from participation processes is the focus of the second part of the conference. Several discussion rounds will take place in the afternoon. Among others, representatives of the city of Bad Honnef, which was one of the 10 winning municipalities of the federal competition #mobilwandel2035 , as well as the planning office R+T Verkehrsplanung, who contribute their many years of expertise in the design of mobility concepts, will be present. The addressing and activation of different target groups as well as the transfer of empirical values from the field of mobility to other topics related to climate protection should also be highlighted.

The event is aimed at interested parties from municipalities, associations, administration, research and politics.

The specialist conference will take place on September 14, 2022 from 9 a.m. to around 5 p.m. in the Georg Christoph Lichtenberg-Haus in Darmstadt. The registration fee for the conference is 125 euros. Registration is now open.
