The Centre for Innovative Democracy and Sustainability (CIDS) is an organization based in Taipei, Taiwan, dedicated to researching and communicating complex socio-technical controversial issues. CIDS has developed democratic infrastructures that facilitate social dialogue and public participation, based on long-term engagement with Taiwan's environmental justice and energy transition landscapes.

CIDS transforms its field experiences into actionable capacity-building resources. Through our educational practices, we have developed Negotiation Theater, Travel camp and Issue toolbox, which have been used in contexts such as nuclear waste siting, geothermal energy development, and petrochemical transition. Across these domains, CIDS integrates Science and Technology Studies (STS), participatory design, and community engagement to build learning environments where diverse actors can collectively interrogate socio-technical controversies and envision alternative governance pathways.
