This was the first citizens’ assembly in Limburg, organized simultaneously in three locations. 6 discussion themes were identified, among which were environmental topics, healthcare, and culture. On aggregate, 180 citizens deliberated for 2 days (over 6 months).

What Went On: Process, Interaction, and Participation
6 themes were identified at the citizens' assembly. It was a strange mix of environmental topics, health care and culture (e.g. a ‘health care bar’; it seems that one later got dubbed ‘quality of life’). Afterwards a second meeting was held with project groups each covering one of the six topics (25 January 2019; N=100).
Influence, Outcomes, and Effects
The six groups had their own timelines and presented their results to the Provincial governments on 20 June 2019. The results are advisory, though a board is installed to ensure that the advice is taken seriously (consisting of two citizens, one member of the coalition and one member of the opposition). It remains to be seen, however, to what extent this has a beneficial impact.
