135 selected participants met for large and small group discussions about future alternatives for local energy production over the space of a day and a half. This was preceeded by a telephone survey.

Problems and Purpose

The purpose of the Nova Scotia participatory budgeting in 2004 was to gain an understanding of public opinion after deliberating and learning with experts. Nova Scotia Power wanted to discuss the future of energy and power in the East of Canada by having sessions on issues including fossil fuels, renewable energy, the environment and energy conservation.
