The Humanitarian Shelter for the Lives of Social Leaders was a democratic initiative from civil society, coordinated among different human rights organizations at the national level, who were present in a transitional camp located in Bogotá.

Problems and Purpose

The Humanitarian Shelter for the Lives of Social Leaders was a democratic initiative implemented from April 28 until May 2, 2019. The Shelter had four objectives: to inform and raise awareness among citizens; to carry out an exercise of political control over the national government; to propose collective protection measures; and finally to inform the international community about the systematic assassinations of social leaders that have occurred since the signing of the peace agreement between the national government and the FARC in 2016.
