Problems and Purpose

The app Alto al Didymo (lit. Stop Didymo) is an application for cell phones that allows citizens to identify, report and prevent the presence of algae "Didymo" in areas of Chilean freshwater. The development of this algae affects freshwater ecosystems. The National Secretariat of Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Culture of Chile made this digital tool available to the general public, which helps the state to have updated and diverse information about the spread of Didymo in ecosystems provided by citizens.
